As the Vols Turn

January 15th, 2010

Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick….

The Vols have been on the clock for almost 48 hours, and it seems that they aren’t having the best of luck.

Will Muschamp - no.

Phil Fulmer - no.

Troy Calhoun - no.

I’ve been working at home today, and have been hearing a lot on ESPN about Lane Kiffin and his departure from the Tennessee Volunteers.  And the names who haven’t said no yet, that I’ve seen scrolled along the bottom of the screen have been - Derek Dooley and David Cutcliff.

With recruits bailing out and the AD on the hotseat, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

And folks thought that we were hard on coaches….

Awwwww Snap!

January 13th, 2010

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaa!

I literally couldn’t believe what I heard this morning when I got up.  Lane Kiffin leaving Tennessee!  I had to turn on the radio to make sure it wasn’t a joke!

What shocked me most, however was that USC actually hired this clown!!!

Really USC????

You can’t find a better head coaching candidate than Lane Kiffin???

You think your NCAA problems are bad now???  Ha!  They just got a hell of a lot worse.

I will say that the one group that I truly do feel sorry for in all of this are the players and the recruits.

This a-hole promised these guys the world, and now leaves them high and dry.  And apparrently, he’s trying to get all of his recruits to commit to USC now.  WTF?

This situation just shows what a classless punk bitch Lane Kiffin is.

Good job showing your true character, Lane Kiffin.  I just hope that all of these high-schoolers across the country can see what we all see now.

And good riddance - I couldn’t be happier that you’re not a part of the SEC anymore.

Get ready Pac-10, you have no idea what’s about to hit you.

Thank you Rolondo McClain

The Alabama family is happy that you have big opportunities ahead of you in the NFL!

Thank you for what you did for this Alabama team this year!

And no matter where you go in your NFL career, you will always be a PILF!

I’m sorry Georgia bretheren, but I had to say it.

Living where I live, I’ve heard a lot about Georgia making it’s “big play” for Kirby Smart.

And I’m so glad that Kirby Smart decided to stay at Alabama.

I wouldn’t have blamed him if he decided to go back to his home state, his alma mater - but I’m glad that it was worth it for him to stay in Tuscaloosa.

California Love

January 8th, 2010

“California knows how to partay, California knows how to par-taay”

Sing it with me now…

Well, the ending couldn’t have been nicer, but there at the end of the 3rd quarter and start of the 4th - I was scerred.

After Texas brought the score to 24-21, it seemed like everytime I left the room, something good happened.  So I decided it was best for me to stay back in the bedroom until Erik Anders forced the fumble.

Now, My sister basically called me an ugly word for not staying in the room, but hey - I did what I felt was best for my team.  They can tell, ya know, whether or not I’m sitting in my den or in the bedroom…just like they can hear us screaming through the TV.

You do know that, right???

Anyway, I loved Marcel Dareus.   He’s such a character.  Couldn’t understand a word he was saying when he accepted defensive player of the game, but he made me laugh.  And I can’t wait to see more of him in the future.

Eryk Anders - mmm hmmm

Courtney Upshaw - yeah baby

Javier Arenas - we are going to miss you, buddy.  Mouth and all, we’re gonna miss you.

Rolando McClain - we know you were wearing that sleeve because you had been pumped full of IV fluid.  And we love how tough you are.  You played a hell of a game.

Kareem Jackson - I am so glad you didn’t get called for interference on those 2 big plays.  Great coverage.

Julio Jones - I LOVE how you get in people’s face.  You know how to throw some daggers, don’t ya?!

PJ Fitzgerald - nobody ever talks about a punter. Well, you get a shout-out.  Great game.

Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson.  Damn.

O-line - 2 over 100 yard rushers?  Big props to all of you big dudes.  You don’t get enough credit.

Coach Saban - I’m so glad that you finally smiled after you had a chance to get a shower and change your gatorade soaked shirt.  I love you.

Thank you guys for a great season - I’ve enjoyed every minute of it - even when I was hunkered down and practically having a heart attack.  Roll Tide!

Nervous Nellie…

January 6th, 2010

Yep - that’s me!  And it’s really starting to sink in…

I’ve even got my gameday outfit ready for tomorrow.

I have read all the articles, watched videos, listened to the radio incessantly.

And yesterday I started to hear more and more people say that they think that Texas may win.  That makes me nervous.  Or should it?

Don’t we like to be underdogs?

I don’t know what to think.  But here’s what I hope -

I hope Rolondo McClain is well and that his stomach problems have caused him no ill effect.

I hope Greg McElroy is calm, cool, collected and plays a great game.

I hope our secondary is ready to bring it.

I hope we can run the ball like we want to - eventhough we’re playing against the #1 rush defense in the nation.

But more than anything, I just hope we WIN!  I really really really hope we win.

Bowls, bowls, bowls…

January 3rd, 2010

So, could the people in Orlando not do a better job with managing their field?  I mean, I know it rained a lot, and maybe Alabama’s irregation system has us spoiled, but that was just a damn mess.

And speaking of the Capital One bowl in Orlando, you’d think that maybe Les Miles and his crew at LSU might have come up with a plan for what to do in a situation with no timeouts and less than a minute on the clock.  It was the 3rd time this season (if I’m remembering correctly) that they’ve been in a situation like that, and unfortunately, they looked just about as prepared as they did the first time.

The Tigers (Auburn) really were cat-like in their game - using almost all of their 9 lives to pull out a win.  That was one crazy game.

And another bit, however non-bowl related: watching the Under Armour All-America game today and looking for some of our recruits, I was really tickled by just watching these kids play football.  It was funny to watch these 18 year olds running around, talkin’ smack, and celebrating like they were hot stuff.

It just made me laugh to think that in a few short months, they are going to have a rude awakening.  Especially if they choose a school with a Saban-esque coach.  Lord help them.  Ha!
